Method and sources
This page explains the record behind this site, how it is coded, what counts as a fact and what is the author’s reading, and how corrections are made.
The record
The record is made up of four kinds of public document:
- hearing transcripts
- written submissions
- council minutes
- the IESO connection list
How the record is coded
Each document is read in full. Each point a speaker or a submission makes is coded by subject and kept with the document and date it came from, so that every coded point can be traced to its source.
Fact and reading
A fact on this site is something a public document states: what a council decided and when, what a submission asked for, what the IESO connection list shows. Each fact links to its source, with the source’s date.
Everything else is the author’s reading: what a decision means, what a proponent should do, what a council is likely to accept. Legal statements on this site are the author’s reading, for review by a solicitor.
Corrections
To report an error, email carl@gridfirst.ca with the page and the source. If the source supports the correction, the page is corrected and the correction is noted on that page with its date. Corrections to the board are also listed in its changelog.
